Adult ADHD/Autism

As a patient you will have three different routes you can go down, NHS, Right to Choose or Private.

Please note the current wait time for the NHS is 4-5 years.

Patients can go via the Right to Choose option, but please remember the following:

  • It is self funded
  • You as a patient will need to research yourself which provider you would like to be referred to
  • Medication and follow up appointments are all private until stable for 1 year and all interim and annual reviews have been undertaken. The surgery will then review the shared care agreement.

If you would like to be referred through this route, please access the right to choose website, research the providers, download the relevant forms as per the website(s), complete the form(s) and send them back to the surgery for the attention of secretaries.

Once all relevant forms have been received, the secretarial team will send off the referral.

Patients can go privately with a provider not on the Right to Choose website however, if a patient chooses to go via the private route, we are unable to take on the request for shared care agreement as the ADHD provider is not an authorised NHS right to choose provider.

We cannot trust a Non-NHS accredited private company from a medical perspective. It would be the same as acting on a recommendation from an oversees specialist without NHS input.
